cydewaze 06-15-06 01:25 PM

I WISH we had something like this in MD.

Hipcycler 06-15-06 01:26 PM

EEEEEEK!!!!

What kind of kit is that rider wearing?
Purple pants!

What's wrong with me....when that's the first thing I notice about this plate!

blue_nose 06-15-06 01:33 PM

That's great. Slowly but surely the message is getting out there.

Haha...maybe its subliminal messaging for people to go to the University of Washington, which is state funded. If I got the plate I would color in his shorts with a Sharpie. If you have a red Sharpie, you could even turn his jersey into a Saunier Duval sponsorship

you would think california... with all the cyclists in this state... would have a cylcingn license plate!

These have been out for a little while. The owner of my LBS has a set on his van. I'm planning on picking up a set when it's time to renew my tabs in September.

I like the idea of a cyclist plate. I am not crazy about the clip art inspired rider, but I guess you have got to start somewhere.

I am guessing that if the plate design was open as a design competition, we would see some really cool designs. Just an idea.

Nice plate...lucky you.

Here's South Carolina's:

BUT, it's indirectly for bicycle advocacy. In SC, a nonprofit can apply for a special tag for its members. The Palmetto Cycling Coalition is the leading advocacy organization in the state, and applied for this tag. The requist 1000 pentioners were fairly easy to come by, but you still need to be a member of the non-profit to get the tag. A portion of the extra fee goes to the non-profit.

I put a set of the WA bike plates on my car a few months ago. Of the $30/year fee, $28 goes to the Bicycle Alliance of Washington to support bike advocacy. Not only do I support the cause, but the $28 is tax deductible, too.
