BMC Road Racer SL01 - opinions/ feedback?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BMC Road Racer SL01 - opinions/ feedback?

Hi all,

Looking at getting a new bike, the BMC Road Racer SL01, and am curious to know of any opinions from people who own one or have ridden one. I am short of info and reviews on the bike ATM so any info would be appreciated.

You know, you would think they put at least ultegra parts with a price tag like that.

Please tell me you're getting this bike at least half off. Otherwise, you're getting hosed. Big time.

Sorry forgot to mention, here in OZ it is spec'ed out a bit different and has a good price. It is coming with full ultegra drivetrain and elites as a wheel set. It is offered for AUS$3500 which is down $800 from normal retail. The shop is also offering to set it up with whatever i want rather than as a complete bike as advertised, plus a few other bit's and pieces. There are only 3 shops in my state of New South Wales that sell these so they are rarely seen which is part reason for consideration.

What exactly 'ain't that great' about it? Is it the deal you are referring to or the actual bike itself? If it is the bike, what have you heard/ know about the Road Racer model?

$3500 AUS sounds like a pretty decent deal for a "boutique" frame with an ultegra drivetrain. If it fits and you like the way it rides, I would say go for it!
