700a, 700b, 700c

Has anyone ever seen a 700A or 700B tire, and if so, what is the difference in the bead set diameter between the three.

Are they still manufacturing 700A and 700Bs?

Hmmm, you're going in the wrong direction.

The c stands for the measurement; not a designation for the third generation of the product.

There was no A or B, nor will there be a D, E or F.

I think the "c" is for centimeter.

FixdGearHead 06-28-06 02:10 PM

C doesn't really stand for anything.

Good link. 700 cm would make for a really large tire.
700 cm = 275.6 in

Maybe it's a speed rating! :p

woodcycl 06-28-06 02:27 PM

c = circumfrence :?

Hmm thats strange, I could have sworn there was a 700b GT cross bike in my shop waiting for tires which... I have yet been unable to find.

according to mr. brown, there apparently is/was such a thing as 700a or 700b

http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html

(there are multiple tables about all the different conventions used for tire sizing... i don't understand it, but apparently 700c doesn't always mean 700c)

Pashley Guv'nors are 700b, there must have been plenty of others in the past. GT made 700d bikes some years back.
