Weight/Height comparison

Curious what you all weigh (in comparison to height); I'm 5' 10" (uhm...ok, with shoes on...probably 5' 9.5") and dangle between 140 - 145 lbs.

Wife keeps telling me to not go below 145 lbs (probably because she doesn't want me within 15 lbs of her weight!). I'm thinking 5' 10"/140 lbs is lean but good, yeah?

voltman 06-29-06 02:34 PM

5'6", 190.

operator 06-29-06 02:35 PM

5'9 - 120lb

so much depends on muscle mass and Bodyfat.

Maybe your wife is actually hinting that you look like to much of a weakling in real life and that if some kids are hassling you at the movies, at 5'10'' and 140 you don't look like much of a man. Also, keep in mind, in the fat US, the average for 5'10'' is probably 190 good or bad. Even 'heavier cyclists' look skinny in real life.

But for cycling? sure it's great. just don't get in any road rage disputes or you might get swatted like the fly you are:D

5' 8", 160 lbs.....I need to lose at least 10 pounds so I can chase jschen up his mountain!...:D

I'm always stunned at how folks are "below" the BMI for their height!! I'm above it ... but I'm at a healthy body size ... or within 7lbs of a healthy body size.

5' 7" and 171lbs ... on my way down to 165lbs. (bmi tells me my perfect weight is 154 ... but that is simply too thin for my frame). I think 158 to 162 would be ideal for me. But, being able to stay at that weight compared to 165 to 168 is SO tough for me.

6'2", 160... I can cruise in the hills, but I don't possess the power to be a truly great climber.

wow, I try and convince myself I'm not a fat bastard anymore but even after having lost weight, you could carry your twin and still make a smaller impact on the earth than I do. Granted, I am taller...

6'1" 285lbs.

ps I guess I'll be doing sprints on the way home tonight. And maybe an extra up and over the Brooklyn Bridge.

Ha ha, well I'm trying to gain some more lower body mscle mass but I'm still only 15 so my metabolism is still going at hyperspeed. Don't feel bad and congrats on losing the weight.

OK...starting to feel a little better about 5' 10" and 140 lbs...terrymorse and soccer got me beat by a long shot! :)

5'11" 176lbs. I'm fat for a cyclist. I would like to get down to 165. I don't want to go below that. I would be way too skinny. 170 with muscle would be ideal.

Will drop a few pounds as I stop lifting for a few weeks resting a bad elbow, while riding much more (though that stresses the elbow, as well, just not as much).

Baldy 06-29-06 04:25 PM

6'2" 187. Down 20 since first of the year. Trying to see what 180 feels like.

I'm 5'8" and 130 as well. Not enough of it is muscle for me though; I've gotta get more work done before I can use this 'ideal climbing weight' to my advantage.
