Clipless pedals
 

Hi I'm sort of a newbie to serious cycling. Anyway I've got big feet (size 15) and have been unsuccessful at locating pedals in my size. Anybody that know's where I can purchase them (online, mail order, whatever) please let me know. Also of course to go with the shoes I want to buy clipless pedals, opinions? I don't want to spend a ton of money (hopefully around 125?) and have liked the egg beaters and I liked the low price of wellgo pedals. Thanks for any help.

I'm assuming that is a typo you are looking for pedals in your size.. I believe you mean shoes. Size 15 I believe comes out to 50 metric, The Sidi genius come in that size, seen them for sale before.. might have to special order them though. Why not talk to your LBS and see what they can get in your size, then it is easy to return if don't fit. Shoes are a very personal item, one I like you might not like, and some are wider then others etc...

I recommend speedplay pedals, the basic model sells for $99.
I just switched from wellgo to speedplay, much easier on the knees and clipping in and out is a piece of cake.

No offense but when I read the original post my first thought was, "Anything but Speedplays." I'm just thinking that with feet that long there will be some flex in the shoe, regardless of how rigid the sole, and a big platform under the show would help. I was thinking that a Look pedal would be more appropriate.

But then, you have new Speedplays that you like and I have been on Looks since they came out... :)

Heres a thought. Ride out into the woods. Jump off and stomp around a bit. That should scare the path finders for days to come.

I agree. Even with size twelves I find it difficult to use Spd's. I went from Looks to SPD's and now I am back to Looks. It is hard to beat that large platform for comfort.

Of course if you are going to do a lot of walking in your cycling shoes, you may want to try the smaller platform pedals.

Hey try speedplay pedals. I am using speedplay pedals and I have a size 14 foot.

I vote for Look pedals also. My foot isn't as large as yours (US 11-1/2, EU 45).

I started out riding clipless using SPD (M-535) and switched to Looks about a year later.
I like the larger platform and with your large foot you should get a pedal with a good sized platform.

You might want to look at mountain bike pedals too. Maybe someone makes one with a large platform. There's no rule that says you can't use mountain bike pedals on a road bike. Get what works best for you.

My feet are UK13, US 14/15, EU 49, the only shoes I know that fit are northwave centurions, the sidi ones mentioned before, and i believe shimano do some up to size 50 too though i'm not sure on that. Personally I use looks, but i don't think the foot size makes too much of a difference as to what pedal to use, only what pedals are supported by the shoe that you buy which is normally most of them.
