Sorry about the rant I work in the service industry but this is where "the customer is always right" gets abused by people like you.
Yep, I abused them. Lesse...I spent $350 and they gave me a bike, a disco water bottle and a crummy OLN contest water bottle.
I've easily spent $500 in that shop in the last month on things like socks ($10 a pair), Jersey ($69), wedge pack, etc. All of which I could have purchased elsewhere for much less. They offer little in the way of service that I can see. The owner seems put out that you come into his shop half the time (he also wrenches in the back) and gives one word answers to questions regarding what type of shoes to buy, pedals, etc. I'm *trying* realllllly hard to spend money there, but it's getting to the point that it's harder than it ought to be.
I could have purchased the same 3700 online for nearly $80 less.
I feel so.....naughty!

You sir have never been a small business owner. Being nickel and dimed by customers is the toughest thing to deal with in the world. When you are happy to have 3-5% profit everything counts.
I'm not going to give an excuse on the service but when customers come in and complain about wanting free stuff because they think they deserve it it's annoying and inconsiderate.
You talk about wanting to spend money and support your LBS but you demand free bottles. If you think they are such a drop in the bucket then buy them yourself and don't demand free stuff.
This is not just directed at you, its directed at everyone who thinks they deserve free stuff and that a cheap thing like a water bottle doesn't mean something to an independant business owner, especially one with horrible customer service who probably has trouble getting business.
How about another question does everyone not like the service at this store or is it just you. If it is just you maybe it's not the owner who's having problems.
/End Rant
I won a bottle yesterday
YTD 2 bottles , 1 Powerbar, 1 Jersey

I offer/provide outstanding service to my clients and I demand it from anyone that wants to share in my hard earned cash. When I'm paying a premium, on purpose, I'd expect premium service. I don't ask for discounts on the bikes or the accessories, I simply say "how much" and then pay with a smile. My daughter was absolutely THRILLED with her new bike. I had to ask the guys to adjust the brake lever/shift controls up as they didn't notice her wrists were bent more than 45 degrees down to try and reach the levers. I had to ask if there was an adjustment to pull the reach of the levers back so her small hands could more easily grasp the brake levers...Are you getting the picture? Am I expecting more than I should?
I'm a nice guy....I try to be personable with people...I strike up conversations about things other than bikes in an attempt to gain some common ground with the guys in the LBS....Perhaps I'm too picky, but I didn't mention the myriad of little scratches and nicks on the paint of this new bike to the shop owner...my daughter didn't care and once she falls down once I won't either.....I just get tired of this "support your local XXXXXXXX" crap when the great majority of the local guys don't make any attempt to differentiate themselves. I'll try to support the local economy, but if I have to work at it, well...tough crap...I *am* the customer...I'm not always right, but at least treat me like you'd like to have me come back in some day.

As for you and your consulting business is very differnt than retail with an actual store, I've done both. I congratualate you on being a person who cares about service. I'd probably use you if I needed any computer consulting if you are truly into customer service. What kind of photography do you do? Can I have some free pictures

Seems the game is having problems. If you notice that the days left to play is empty as is the prizes won online.
Seems to me someone tried hacking it and they are trying to fix it or just saying the hell with it and not doing a damn thing about it.
