Best energy drink pre-ride?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I pound back one of these every morning before my ride. Highly effective this summer.

water

edit: you don't really need anything pre-ride. you are using energy stores from the previous day's food.

Coffee: black as night, hot as hell, sweet as love. (Usually Peet's Major Dickason Blend, but lately it's been their 40th Anniversary Blend. Very nice.)

Dairy before excercise gives me major bathroom related problems afterwards. I love milk as a post ride drink though.
