Cannondale R1000 2004
I'm just getting into road riding. When I went to the local store I was looking for an Allez Comp. The salesman suggested a Cannondale R1000 2004 model. It is a really nice lookng (black) and riding bike. The orginal price was 2700 (Canadian) It was on sale for 2200 and he said he would give it to me for 2000 because that was the price of the allez comp. it is a perfect fit. All prices noted are in Canadian dollars. What does anyone think?

If you have the specs on the bike you might want to post those for we have a better idea of the bike.

If it was 10spd ultegra maybe, but it's not worth 2grand with 9spd ultegra. Mostly it's just the old ultegra cranks, i know from experience they definitly aren't anywhere near the stiffest, the rest of the 9spd drivetrain is pretty solid, and the caad7 frame is good, but i'd prefer to be on the newer caad8
For comparison, here's a bike my LBS has on sale, 2300$ cdn, 2005 r1000, ultegra 10spd, better cranks, same wheels, better frame... which is similar to the deal i got. 2300$ cdn Frame CAAD8 Optimo Fork Slice Premium Rear Shock N/A Rims Mavic Ksyrium Elite Hubs Mavic Ksyrium Elite Spokes Mavic Ksyrium Elite Tires Hutchinson Top Speed foldable, 700 x 23c Pedals N/A Crank TruVatiV Rouleur Carbon Triple, 30/42/52 Chain Shimano Ultegra 10-speed Rear Cogs Shimano Ultegra, 12-25 Bottom Bracket TruVatiV Giga X Drive Front Derailleur Shimano Ultegra Rear Derailleur Shimano Ultegra Shifters Shimano Ultegra Handlebars FSA RD-250 Anatomic Stem Cannondale 3-D Forged Headset FSA Alloy integrated Brakeset Shimano Ultegra Brakelevers Shimano Ultegra Saddle Fi'zi:k Poggio, Eco, Ti Seat Post FSA SL-K Carbon w/Nano-Pro adjustment Colors Patriot Blue (gloss) (BLU). Jet Black (matte) (BBQ). At their price i'd ask about upgrading the cranks, since the rest of the bike is pretty solid. If they're not a big concern to you i'd negotiate on the price a bit, 2 grand for a 2 year old bike is quite a bit and they might be open to price talks just to get rid of the thing. Personally i wouldn't go above 1800$ Cdn. |
Derek, the '05 you just listed is identical to mine (mine's bbq black). I purchased mine 2 months ago from Bangor, ME and brought it into NB for the cost savings....
How are you liking the '06 Synapse vs the '05 R1000....? |

Oh and since its a '04 model, try to tweak on the price some more. They probably really want to get rid of it. If he won't go down on the price, try to get him to throw is some stuff like helmet, pedals, shoes, gloves, seat bag, spare tube, patch kit, mini pump, cycling shorts, etc... |
