Got the wheels today...the Cinelli is COMPLETE!!!
The wheels that I have been waiting on to complete my Cinelli Proxima discussed in THIS THREAD were delivered today. The bike is now complete!!! Even though I had my backup wheels on it temporarily it was not the same. I have not had a chance to ride it yet with the new wheels but I will be taking it on my Saturday morning group ride tomorrow. The wheels were built with White Industry H1 hubs 28f/32r with steel freehub bodies instead of titanium, Sapim Laser spokes on the front, Sapim Race spokes on the rear drive side and Lasers on the non drive side, and Ambrosio Excellight rims. The wheels were built to be stong and reliable. They weigh in at 1532 grams without skewers or rim strips. I loved the bike with the Neuvations that I had on it while waiting on this set so I can't wait to ride it with the custom wheels.

I see one wheel has a 646g tagged on it. What was the weight for the rear wheel? Nice looking ride for sure. Enjoy the weekend!
EDIT: never-mind, i can do the math!

Glad to see your wheels arrived, and at the price you posted in the original thread they appear to be a great deal. Waiting for your ride report.

I couldn't resist the urge to get this bike with the new wheels on the road. I decided to take it on my Saturday morning group ride. The ride started out rough. I was in hurry and did not fully seat my rear wheel in the dropouts. less than a mile into the ride the rear wheel slipped and started rubbing the chainstay. I had to pull off of the ride and fix this problem. I thought it was the brakes and it took me a few minutes to figure out what the real problem was. I got it fixed and caught the tail end of the next group coming through. After making a couple of adjustments to the rear derailleur at stop lights I finally got everything perfect. Note to self: Test ride bike before the morning of a group ride.
This wheelset is smooth as butter!!! It really smoothed out the ride alot. I rode this wheelset back to back with my Neuvation R28's using the same tires and same pressure and the difference is VERY noticeable. I paired the wheels with a set of Continental Force/Attack. This combination is smooth, fast, and very stable at all speeds. The H1 hubs are fantastic!!! This is my second wheelset using the White Industry H1 hub. This is a sub $400 wheelset and I like it better than some of the wheels that I paid A LOT more for.
I love this bike and the wheelset that I had built just for it. We averaged 19.5 MPH on the ride over 30 miles and I felt totally confident in my bike, tires, and wheels. I was a little leary about an aluminum bike with 105 components and a lower priced wheelset. I was just as fast and confident on this bike as I am on my high end carbon fiber bike with higher grade wheels and components.

Sounds like you got an awesome steed Kevin. Look forward to seeing it on the road!
I got new wheels also, compliments of a very generous BF member. FSA HD-80s. I'll post some pics after I get them on.

Kevin, loving the finished product! Do those rims come in silver as well as black? Haven't heard about them before seeing this wheel build and in my never ending persuit to know far too much about everything cycling related I'll have to do some more research on them after hearing you like them so much. The 28/32 spoke count looks great, 3x front and rear? Sub-1600g is a great weight for a sub-$400 wheelset with quality hubs.
I'm still recovering from my cold, but I'm going to have to come up and check that new ride of yours out ASAP!

I am not sure if the rims come in Silver. I will ask my builder to see if he can get them in silver. I actually would not mind having a set built up with the same rim in silver. When my builder recommended this rim, it was the first time I heard of them also. They are made in Italy and where it says Ambrosio on the rim, it is not a decal, it is etched into the rim material...pretty cool. I never heard of Crostini 3.1/3.2 rims until he recommended those on my last build and they are even better although I do prefer the braking surface on this set. These wheels are built with 2x front, 3x rear drive side, and 2x non drive side...I think??? I am going to have one more set built up with the Niobium rim and the same spokes and hubs as this set after I sell my last two sets of non-handbuilt wheels.
After the ride today I bought a set of Salsa skewers to finish it off. They were expensive but I have had my eye on them for some time.
Anybody wanna buy a set of barely used Neuvation R28's

I'm sure Cahill's got room in his garage for one more pair of wheels before he could open a wheelshop. I'm sure he'd be interested. He's got what, about 4 pairs of wheels he's currently not using? And my next wheelset will be Campy.
Looking online I don't see a silver option for those rims. Looks like the DTSwiss RR1.1's are still at the top of my list for rims. Though, I still haven't seen a good photo of those rims in silver that aren't the retouched stock photo from DTSwiss.

Depending on how this frame auction goes I might be interested in the Neuvations. And if you don't mind me asking, what exactly do you not like about them?
