lycra-clad Fred takes a double digger
I knew the dude was in trouble with his first failure to clip-out tip over before we started the ride. Didn't actually witness the second tip over, but it drew blood.
Topping off his disaster ride was attacking the first pitch of a 800 foot 12% grade. Blowing up 300 meters must have made for a long, hard, painful climb.
I remember the embarressment of all that when I started riding. My most humbling noob experiance was showing up at a 200+ person group ride on my 86 schwinn traveller and a dorky white t-shirt, then attacking the first hill (I was way out front thinking I was the man), blowing up, then having all 200+ riders dust me. Of course, the rest of my ride was solo, with the pack no where in site.
