Santa Ana River Trail
Anyone have suggestions for places to hop off of the trail and grab some food? We're planning to ride the whole trail from HB to Corona and back this week, but I want to make sure that we are able to refuel somewhere, preferably in the Corona area or maybe just after the turn-around.
Thanks!
Thanks!

there's a shopping area next to the wooden bridge in Yorba Linda, it has a fast food restraunt and an albertsons. The trail ends at Green River, about 5 miles south of Corona.

Oh yes. Lived in the area for a long time. Just after the trail proper hits the Orange/Riverside county line it joins Green River Road near the enterance of a golf course. About a mile up this road there are fast food places, restraunts(sp), and gas stations as the road passes over the 91 freeway. I usually got a drink and snack at a gas station. If you have a little more Bravado than most it is legal to continue on the shoulder of the 91 a mile to the exit to the north-bound 71 which is rideable.

Thanks for the suggestions! My bravado's not quite there yet, I think I'll keep myself off of the 91.

If you are going all the way to Green river, go up the hill to the golf course, they have a full service restaurant as well as a patio grill.. Just ask them if you can bring your bikes inside, it should be no problem. You can get sandwiches, fruit and gatorade if necessary. Much better than fast food.. The street you turn up is Golf Course Road, right off Green River Road..

What furiousferret said. Our bike club crosses the wooden bridge and stops at a place that looks like an old red barn. Can't think of the name right now. The food is great, good selections, with good prices and there is a place to secure your bike just inside the white gates.

Forget all of the other suggestions...exit the path at Imperial and go to In N' Out. It's the only way to go. There's also a Cold Stone in the same strip mall but if you do both, you would probably need a nap.

Hey girls... it's pam!
There are actually several good places to exit but I suggest Imperial Hwy, go North turn left at Orangethorpe and there are many places there including a Knowlwoods and Starbucks.
Also alot of food places off Yorba Linda Blvd. Past YL, the picking get really sparse, so fuel early and carry some food. The trail ends at Green River and if you go up the "big hill" there is a resturant at the top - like a truck stop but really nothing else.

Thanks everyone and
Pam! I'm looking forward to this ride...when I looked up the mileage it jumped out as the perfect ride for increasing our long ride mileage by 10% this week!

At Greenriver there is a Carls Jr, Jack in the box and the joint the others have metnioned.
At Weir Cyn (1/4 mile east of Weir, 5 miles before Greenriver) ther is a place called Rio Java. A lil coffee joint. they serve sandwiches, bagels, pastries/muffins type things. They also have a fridge with energy drinks and stuff.
Same center ("Rio ___ center" I think it's called?) there is an EZ Burger(open for reakfast). Good prices on burgers.
But the Rio Java is popular with many cyclists. When I arrive for my ride, usually about 9 am, there are already several cyclists in and outside of the place having some coffee!
Also on Imperial (2 or 3 miles before Weir) there is a Carrows type restaurant right off the path next to a Jiffy lube type place. Across the street (La Palma and Imperial) from that place is also a Carls Jr.( I believe they open early).
Right after Kraemer, Tustin ave. maybe? (double underpass) 2 miles before Imperial, there is a Circle K store right in the right side of the path. within 20 yards. Maybe good for a coffee, gatorade, or emergency Snickers bar!

Really though, I would say go to Rio Java (Rio Center) same center as the EZ Burger. Many cyclist gather and kinda all look out for one another. Wouldn't have to worry much about the bikes!

Therefore you might want to take a few stops on the way back. There's a park just past Kaiser Permanente Hospital, the Lakeview bridge. There's a water fountain there. Then there's the stop at Katella near Arrowhead Pond. The homeless there are usually ok. Mostly illegal immigrants and homeless, an unusual but necessary alliance.

Be careful on the over passes too. The path dips down and back up to avoid the road above making it hard to see oncomimg traffic on the way up.
I saw a bad crash at the "dip in the path" were a guy on a Huffy was riding on the wrong side of the yellow line and got hit by on an oncoming bike who couldn't see him. The huffy guy was fine but the other guy...broken jaw, road rash, bruses everywhere, bent fork and a cracked frame.
