Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Frameset for my fiance? (or... how I need a new project to work on:))

Hello all, I am in the process of starting a project for my fiance. We both race a few times a month and she is in need of a new bike, or at least a new frame. She is a small rider, so that makes finding quality frames a bit of a challenge. She is currently riding a size 51cm Specalized Dolce Elite frame that has a 518mm top tube with a 100mm stem. Currently running Ultegra 10s parts and some 1400gram handbuilt clinchers. She is 5'2" (157.48cm), 115lbs (52.16Kg).

I really would like to be able to get her a Canyon F10 framset (www.canyon.com) and building it up with DuraAce. (I know Campy would be better I'm a Campy guy, but she already has several Shimano wheelsets... and likes the feel of the shifters in her hands... so be it! ) But I believe their size 52 might be a little big for her. We could easily get a similar reach by usualy a slightly shorter stem (~90mm). But the concern is the bike being too big in general.

With us being in the United States, it's basically impossible for us to try one of these frames out. But they are SOOOOO good looking! Great prices and very light/stiff. Maybe a Pedalforce QS2 wouldn't be a bad idea.... did anyone ever get more detailed geometry info for the QS2S frameset? Any other suggestions for a small rider looking for a good frameset?

I'm not sure if you saw, but I posted the full dimensions sheet for a QS2-S in this thread near the bottom. Check it out! Also, pedal force has the SRAM groups now... Just something to think about!

If the short TT is the driver, carbon may pose a bit of a challenge. It's tough to find a bike in ANY material with a TT of less than 53cm, and CF frame sizing seems to be even more limited.

Might I suggest the steel or titanium Serotta Fierte?

LOTS of geometry options there...
There are plenty of bikes with a tt of less that 53cm. My Fuji Team Pro is a 52 with an effective top tube of 52.9.

Thanks for the link Nims. I thought I remembered seeing a geometry sheet somewhere. As far as the SRAM..... I'd rather switch MY bike back to ShimaNO before putting those ****ly shifters on a bike ;-) But to each his own
