Other uses for bar tape?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Other uses for bar tape?

So why on earth would I spend 40 minutes a week during summer with my hands on bare steel tubing?

I'm gonna buy me some bar tape to put on my lawnmower's handlebar.

Has anyone else done a tape job on something other than a bike's handlebars? Steering wheel on a car maybe? Pool cue?

tennis racquet. I needed to rewrap it and had this bar tape that didn't match any of my bikes, so I used it. Works great, too, absorbing moisture better than regular racquet tape.

Used some of my old tape to make a top-tube protector for my fixie.

Lawn Mower. Works great. Looks funky. Reduces vibration.

Leaf rake handle. No blisters.

If Cinelli cork wrap were to show up on the shelves at Home Depot, it would probably sell for $3.95 instead of $12.00.

I once used it on a pool cue, after the cord wrapping came loose...I just removed all of the cord, and put cinelli cork on instead, and taping it at the ends. Looked alright, and performed great.

I used it on my aluminum speed bar on my hang glider, works great, much better grip when the air gets active.

I used to do that to my track bike when I raced velodrome. I always had plenty left after wrapping only the drops of the 38cm bar. Besides, it helped add SOMETHING to diferentiate it from all the other Glacier Blue Cannondale trak bikes out there (I finally went with this super bright flourescent yellow tape on sale for a dollar just so nobody else was using the same color as me).

A guy came into the bike shop the other day while I was hanging out. He asked how expensive bar tape was and about what length did the tape cover up. Turns out he was making an alligator hunting stick!

I used my leftover bar tape to wrap the clamps on my work stand. My workstand has rubber over metal clamps and sometimes the rubber slips where the metal can come in direct contact with the bike.

I think I'll use my old tape on my lawn mower now based on this thread. I have used old gloves when mowing, but bar tape just makes more sense.

The "leather" on my truck's steering wheel is getting worn. I thought about using some bar tape for that.
