Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Does it have any decals stating the kind of material it is made of? Carbolite 103? Vitus? Reynolds 531?

Without further information, I suspect you have the bike that previously had been known as the U-08. More information and a picture or two would be helpful in confirming though.

I think all Peugeots say "record du monde" on them. The old UO bikes usually have serial numbers that start with UO.

Okay, here's a picture
https://www.geocities.com/londeux/IMG_0324.jpg

there's a decal that says Tube Special Peugeot 103 on the downtube, so I guess that's the carbolite?...The brakes say Mafac, the drop bars say Atax Guidons Philippe D352, and there's also a Simplex logo on the wheel releases. I also know it was bought in either '79 or '80.

Can you take a picture from the other side so we can see the crankset and derailleurs?
