Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Allez Sport Triple

I started biking in mid May and have already put > 1000 miles on my current Cannondale RW400. I plan on putting a rack on the back for utility use (groceries, and stuff). I've decided I want to get a proper road bike and found a 2005 Specialized Allez Sport Triple for $500 (OBO). The seller claims it has 200 miles on it, but I plan on riding it this weekend to test it out. I tried the non-Sport version of this model and it felt quite nice.

Is there a great difference in feel between the Sport and non-Sport versions? I'm typically up to 200-250 miles/week, depending on the awful rain we tend to get daily in the summer.

EDIT: It's a 2005, not 06.

There are several levels of Allez, the sport being the second level up. The base model is simply called the Allez. The Sport is the same frame with Tiagra shifters rather than Sora, and some of the other components like wheels and crankset slightly upgraded. Retails around $900 I think, so if everything is in good working orderand it's reasonably free of scratches, $500 would be a good deal in my opinion.
