Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have an idea

Instead of a board with 100's of threads about the same thing why don't we allow slightly more fun/off topic posts to actually last more than 15 seconds before a "mod" decides that he needs to read more about cranks and shoes?

Countdown until this moves to a forum with 2 people viewing in an area I can't even find.

The road section is made to talk about all things related to road cycling. The reason there is such thing as the FOO section is so that each of the sections (E.G. Road, MTB, LDC, Mechanics etc.) aren't filled with threads about relationships, computer problems, work problems etc. It would be really hard to talk about road topics with so many off topic threads scattered throughout the different sections.

Threads about road cycling are in the road cycling section, things that don't related to any of the specified cycling sections are moved to foo or one of the other "Lounge" sections.

Hope this helps,

I agree. People come to the road cycling section to read about road cycling, not read about personal topics. Sometimes the topics stray a little bit but I think the mods do a good job making sure that a particular forum stays on track.

There are some interesting conversations that happen in the foo section and best of all, people who like to talk about off topic matters will see your thread.
