How long to get used to harder saddle?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How long to get used to harder saddle?

I am going from a little bit softer more flexible MTB saddle to a Sella Italia Flite. At first the flite was great, now about a week into it, I am a little sore. I think maybe by my anus is a little sore as well. HOw long do I give this saddle before I get rid of it, or get used to it? I tried the Arione, and completel hated that.

Hard saddles are great if you like to hammer and put most of your weight on your feet. If you like pedalling easy and sitting back on the saddle, then something wider and more supportive would probably be better for you.

You will build a slight tolerance and resistance to the soreness, but the Flite always made itself known to me on a 50+ mile ride, even after I had been using it for years.
