Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

He would probably have been okay if the cyclist wasn't being dragged...

Did you look at the next two photos? Not photoshop. How did it happen? Carelessness while visiting the team car and bam he's down.

Yeah, I don't even see his arm as the tire passes over him. And the next pic his arm is still attached and doesn't look mangled. Can't really see the arm. Maybe he got his arm out of the way just in time . Looks like a water bottle bit it though . Scary stuff....

He looked more or less OK in the last pic. As long as the car didn't have the brakes locked up going over his arm, it would most likely be bruising and possibly a minor fracture.

Long as the bone isnt braced against somethign with space below it you can get away with out any breaks. Ive seen people get both legs ran over by busses and in one case a flat bed semi and not have a break. The guy with the semi had some hellish bruising and yes the pics i seen showed tire tred patern in the bruis. The guy in the case of a bus was in akron and did not even get a bruise. Living bone tisue will flex a couple degrees before snapping.

A sure break is your foot i could probably break your foot running it over with a large motor cycle. Thats because unless yoru flat footed your bones in your foot form a arch with enough gap between them and the pavement to be bent beyond the point where they can flex with out breaking. Leg bones arm bones etc have a few directions where the bone can be fully braced along its length by the ground. Beleive it or not your more likly to get a broken arm having it ran over in the dirt than on pavement.

Regardless that guy wont be riding for a wile he at the very least got a nice dislocated shoulder id say. Likly sprained wrist wrenched elbow and the like at the very least.

Not suprisieng amd has sponsered many cycling teams they even sponsered a few events here in ohio over the years. Intel has done this as well in the past so has ati and even nvidia and matrox.

Seen a sag wagon once last year with the amd and ati logos both on the side and this was for a simple tour and not even a race.

Too bad they didn't sponsor TOC or any teams that participated in it, one of the stages was right by their headquarters.
