Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

SoCal BF Ride Photos 7/22/06

We all assembled at the Amtrak station in Irvine for PartII of celticfrost's July SoCal BF ride down the coast to Oceanside and Solana Beach. The day turned out to be hot and humid for the most part even along the coast. We had a great turnout, the ride was pleasant, had lunch in Oceanside, and most of us proceeded to ride down further to Solana Beach and come back on Amtrak, while others opted to simply ride back to Irvine (which later turned out to be the smartest thing to do).

I'm bad with names so help me out. I know most of you but am having some trouble identifying some.
I tried to include everyone's photo here so if I missed you while sorting out the photos, please let me know.

When did you do that ride? I did a ride from the Irvine Amtrak station to Oceanside on Saturday morning. My wife and son dropped me and a friend off at the train station at about 7:30AM where we met 3 other guys and we rode to my house which was about 52 miles total. Well, my friend and I rode to my house, she lives in Carlsbad, the other 3 rode on to Solana Beach and took the train back.

Let me know the next time you plan to do a ride like that. I might be in if I can work it in with my wife's open house schedule.

We left at 10:00 a.m. It was one of the rides planned in the Revenge of the Pie Ride thread.

What a shameless act of self-promotion. You must be angling for the best dressed award again.

Hello Fixer,

Good job shooting pictures while riding.

My only complaint is that 2 of the 3 shots of me show me standing and bent over.

Looking forward to a cooler meet-up with the SoCal BF gang.

Thanks for sharing, Fixer! I can't wait to get to work tomorrow so that I can view these pics. (Too impatient to wait on a modem.)

Yep, Fixer is. And so was worker4youth. I got a kick out of watching them spin like madmen on a few fast descents.

Fixer, thanks (once again) for the photos. They are a testament to your no-handed riding ability!!
