new bike: chorus vs. rival

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

new bike: chorus vs. rival

i know not many of you have seen rival yet (as it's not shipping yet), but i'll ask anyway.

if you were getting a new bike and would normally put chorus on it, would you chance sram rival based on the good early reviews, and just to try something new? rival will be a few hundred less than chorus, but i can be certain chorus will provide flawless performance.

thoughts?

Chorus without a question for me. I've never been very attracted to the new SRAM gruppos, and the shifting system doesn't seem especially intuitive. I'll take two levers for simplicity's sake.

Why not try the Rival group? The SRAM groups will be in high demand for a period of time while supplies catch up, so if you don't like it, I would think that you'd be able to get most of your money back. Used groups may go for almost new prices - you know how eBay can be.

The SRAM shifters look like vomit (IMO). Go for Chorus and don't look back! The 07 stuff is really nice with the new quick shift.... plus the new cranks are killer.

The only thing that would tempt me to pass up Chorus, would be Record.

The SRAM stuff offers no interest to me, whatsoever.

new Chorus, but it won't be available for some time. While I'm interested in the new SRAM i can't imagine liking it more than Campy, especially with the new crank / bb design and brakes. It's going to be pricey though!

I'm pretty sure rullobike has the new stuff in the shop and will start shipping it in a week or so. Their prices are great as well.
