Oh No! I just bought a Bianchi Veloce

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oh No! I just bought a Bianchi Veloce

I've been looking at "beaters" for awhile, but rarely found much that was cheap and decent. After missing a minty Cannondale with Chorus, I decided to spend a little more and get something a little nicer for a second bike. I decided I wanted a Campy double. So I searched ebay, local clubs, Craigslist, etc...

So last night I found a '03 Bianchi Veloce double with full Campy Veloce group, in nearly new condition. I've always been fond of Bianchis, and was my size and looked great, so I bit the bullet. Since it's a '03 it has a 9-speed group rather then a 10. I doubt I can share parts with the 10-speed Veloce group on my Cannondale, so that was the only drawback. But for the price I thought it was worth it.

Wheels are the only thing I'm not really certain of (Bianchi hubs; Mavic CXP-22 32h rims), but I think they will be fine.

Now I can't wait for it to arrive.

Here is a pic from the website, real pics will follow when it arrives:

and a link to the specs:

https://gianni.bianchiusa.com/2003/si..._VeloceX2.html

Keep your fingers crossed until it arrives.

John

*jealous glare*

I *ache* for a nice Bianchi. Dunno why, they've always just "done it" for me.

Man, you won't be disappointed, I rode the same frame (Vigorelli) but with the Ultegra gruppo. You'll get
good, comfy miles w/o sacrificing performance.
I'm waiting myself for my Bianchi Pinella XL Boron frame, it should be arrivig this weekend. I'll be posting pics!

That's cool ! I hope you can post pics once you get a chance. Is it a full bike ?
I'm just getting the frame and plan to build it with Ultegra. I would've loved to have Campy on it
but I already have tools and wheels set for Shimano parts, so it's more cost effective just to keep
all Shimano at this point.

We'll need our own subforum before too long. Just did 30 painless miles this AM before work. The weather is finally cooling down in the mornings some.

Have fun,

A couple weeks ago I took the Boron for a test ride, it was plush with just enough stiffness to push it big time, and the reviews out there confirms it.
Can't wait too.

Welcome to the club! I'm loving the 2001 Veloce I bought a few months ago. At least your wheels are decent, though. Mine came with 580 gram rims! Built up a lighter set and climb like a goat now (although I can't descend like I used to). Anyway, you need to get the Bianchi/Campagnolo kit and join the OCP club with us!

See? You don't have enough bikes yet!

Always room in the stable for another, right John?

Of course the Celeste will clash with all your red gear.....

Off subject, I responded to your comments on the NITE ride. I believe there
is a picture of you both on the link I supplied.

Yeah but it's not lugged and it's compact, so it doesn't really matter.

2003, maybe 2002. My 2001 is steel and I thought I saw a 2002 posted on this site with steel. If these companies keep moving toward aluminum, I'm gonna have to only buy used bikes or start spending some serious cash on a boutique or titanium frame.

No need to worry, steel alloy bikes will never go away. It too has come a long way, lighter and higher quality.

His 03 Veloce is aluminum but the 06 looks to be using Reynolds 631.
