Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks guys

Lectron, the bars are Cinelli 64's , A shallower version of the 66's. The Frame size is a 54 which is my ideal frame size. My Tuscany is a 55cm and my Trek is a 52cm.

The bars do feel to have a steep roll off towards the hoods, more than I'm use to these days. I could turn the bars up, but that places the flats on end at a angle I don't like. I have tried positioning the levers higher, but then they are at an angle I don't like either, so this would seem like my personal preference for now. I'll see how it shapes up.

An angle you don't like for what? Actual riding? Or looks?

Looks to me like you have positioned the hoods for optimal looks, rather than comfort.

Viper, you've already wrapped the bars so it may be difficult to play with now, but many of these bars were meant to have the ends of the drops pointing approx at the rear dropout / wheel axel. That may be a bit more of an angle than you'd really like, so perhaps somewhere inbetween where they are now and the drop out position to give a reasonable comprimise. My Cinelli bars are positioned decently flat like you have yours here, but my hoods are rotated up higher as well. Good luck finding the right balance to get the right fit.

Looks nice Bing, but that's what you get for using those hokey, non-anatomical bars!

Just kidding. It looks awesome.

And it looks fine doesn't it?

Actually its set up for the best balance and compromise now. I like the flats (@ drop) at that angle for its the most comfortable. The Levers are placed in the position I like best for braking in the drops or from the hoods. If I moved the levers up, they feel slightly better for riding, but don't feel so good for braking. If I tilt the bars up, then the levers still feel goofy in the drops, and the flat's are at to much of an angle.

I have adjusted them to the best that I think will work for me, and I'm not to worried, as I'm an adaptable guy, and it will sort itself out.

Cuda, the 66's are a deeper drop, and I'm sure I'd like them too, the 64's were a gift from Rad, so I may as well try them for a while, They'll be fine

Cyde, I still do have a set of Modolo anatomics I could use As much as I like the bends and feel of them, the levers really are more of a stretch with them.

I can't wait to ride this puppy now. I found a cool barrel adjuster last night. It came from some old vintage bike at the LBS, where he pitched the derailleur afterward and said, it served it's purpose of providing

It's aluminum and is a bit corroded, so I have it soaking in WD-40 today.

I'm actually having a bit of a bar issue myself.

I have a set of Deda 215 anatomicals, and they looked perfect on paper. I was trying to get a set of bars where the top part just above the hood was parallel to the ground without having the ends point straight at the ground, and they're pretty good at that. The problem is, now the part where I grab in the drops is too upright, so my wrist is cocked back. And being anatomic, that's the only spot I can really grab and still get to the brakes.

But I refuse to have yet another set of unused bars rolling around, so I'll live with them.

Wow, bars and pedals? Good on Rad.

Looking great, Viper. I really like the white saddle and tape.

Viper - While the Cinelli bars are considered classic, by no means were they right for me - that's how you ended up with them. Lose them if they're not working for you.

After searching long and hard to find classic bars with just the right curves, I ended up with Nitto bars, which some might consider an abomination on a Italian bike. I don't care - they were right for me.

The Regina Free Wheel came in today, so I'll be setting about cabling the final part, tune, and maybe test ride in a day or so.

I'm still looking for a proper chain, but I have a few spares lying around I can use/try for now.

Hi ViperZ,

My studio skills are no match for yours, but this is a straight block from back when real men only needed 5 cogs.

Also, these are Cinelli Mod 63 bars on my vintage (1975) Bianchi

These Cinellis were my all-time favorite -- deep but not too deep on the drop which fit my hands really well.

Your Colnago contiues to come along really well. Looking forward to more shots.

BTW, can I borrow some studio time? I can't get the right DOF to blur the requisite white garage door.
