How do YOU pronounce "SRAM?"
I went to my LBS today looking for a crankset, and they had gotten the new SRAM Force stuff in this morning and it was all laying out on the counter. I asked if anyone had ridden in yet, and the guy goes "The Sram stuff?" prounouncing it like an actual word, one syllable. I still have not ever actually said the name, but I always had heard it in my head as "ess-ram," two syllables, the letter 's' then 'ram.'
eh?
eh?

I've always heard it pronounced exactly the way he said it.
I found this on another site:
From their web site:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What does SRAM mean?
R: SRAM is the conglomeration of our founder's [sic] names, Scott, Ray and sAM. The initials
provided a simple way to come up with a corporate name that could be trademarked and directly
translated into languages other than English. It is not pronounced S-RAM, SchRAM, or SkRAM.
Just SRAM.

Like I use to say Thule like tool with a "H" in it. Until someone told me it's pronounced "Tool-E"

This is why I limit the majority of my conversations regarding bikes to the world wide web. For fear of sounding like a "Tool-E."
At least I can spell.

I thought it was S-RAM too, but I was corrected by a rep once. Apparently it's the one-word deal.

Is SRAM an acronym? Looks to be. If it is, it makes sense (to me anyways) to say it the easiest and shortest possible way which would be "sram". Like that new jet propulsion technology "scramjet" (supersonic combustion ramjet). They don't call it "ess-cramjet" .
I don't understand how people see an "h" in the name though .

One of the roving reporter dudes on OLN had a short piece introducing the new line during the Tour. He pronounced it "Sram" - one word, no 'sh' sound - kinda like scram without the 'c'. They usually have a style guide that they check for pronunciationg. Well, except for Bob. He can pronounce things however he wants.

I guess however you want to pronounce it, go for it. Someone ask SRAM Corp. for an official answer.

I think my next bike might get built up with the Force group, but for now SRAM is pronounced "overdrawn."

Wow....I thought most everbody called pronounced it correctly...just Sram. Why do people feel the need to throw c, k, h, or a dash in there??? It's a pretty easy word to read and pronounce in my mind I'm just surprised so many people think or thought it was something different.
