Possible to compete well after racing the previous day?

I want to compete in a short (35 min) crit this Saturday and then compete in another one on Sunday. Is it possible to do well on Sunday's race after having raced the day before? I'm a Cat 5 racer so the race isn't that long. Is there anything in particular I should eat or drink to help merecover? The reason I want to do two races in a weekend is because the season is coming to a close soon and I'd like to get some more racing experience before fall.

it should be fine, just cool down after the saturday crit and warm up well the next day. you shouldnt need anything special for recovery if its just 35 min, just rehydrate and eat

if you're training consistently, a 35 minute effort won't affect you the next day.

Two beers, four shots of Jack, some testosterone and you'll kick some serious behind on the second day.:p

Shouldn't be a problem. Sometimes a race can even cause you to have a small peak the next day. You might be surprised.

Yeah, no problem. I did an RR and a crit last Sat/Sun without any real problem. 2 crits should be even easier. Just make sure you're recovering well, and drink some Endurox or equivalent to replenish that glycogen after Saturday's ride and you eat and hydrate well in between. You'll be fine.

I'll often race on Saturdays just to improve my performance on Sunday. For whatever reason I always feel better on the second day of a race weekend. YMMV.

Here are some helpful tips that most new riders overlook:

1. Don't stand around in your bike shorts for hours after the race on Saturday.

2. Don't stand around out in the sun.

3. Don't stand around! Time spent standing is time spent wearing out your legs.

4. Don't wait 'til your thirsty to drink on Saturday evening.

I'm sure there are more, but these are the basics.

full serving of carbs within 15-30 minutes or so of finishing the race helps recovery.

Actually that's great advice for anything longer. But don't forget the poster said the crit is just 35 minutes - carbo replinishment isn't needed for that short of an event. But fluid replacement certainly is.
