Nashbar Shipping making me nuts...

I'm just venting a little, but I remember the days when a regular Nashbar shipment would arrive next day. I'm in Indiana and they are next door in Ohio. They shipped everthing UPS, and I guess I got spoiled. We'll I placed an order last week, it shipped out in three packages on Thursday via USPS. The first arrived Monday - cool, the second arrived Thursday - ok, and the third is still on the way. What the heck? I know I should have paid more for faster shipping, but this is BS. I don't know if they have some sweet heart deal with the post office, where the PO ships only as space is available, but it drives me crazy. No tracking or any way to determine where it is or anything. Heck it's only a couple hundred miles. So what used to be a great plus for Nashbar (fast UPS regular shipping, at least several years ago), is now a PITA. Almost everyone else, even Amazon is faster. I like the return policy, and they do have good prices, but... Vent Off.

Thanks - John

Canfield is about 3 hours from my front door. The last shipment from Nashbar was IN STOCK and it took 7 days to get. I don't think it's USPS as much as it's Nashbar's shipping dept.

I ordered some shoes here in MT and had them 2 day aired. I got them less than 24 hours later.

Can't complain.

Nashbar takes 10 days to me.
11speed in italy and Probikekit in England takes less time on average.

they must code the package in a certain way to get a even better rate from the post office.

It's definitely Nashbars pathetic excuse of a shipping department. stopped using them after it took 2 weeks to get a vest.

grahny 08-04-06 03:45 PM

All their stuff takes minimum 1.5 weeks with their standard shipping to get to me in philly. I think it sucks.. but I'm not going to pay for expedited shipping, so I just deal with it.

Funny though, Performance seems to ship faster and it arrives faster.. don't they own Nasbar? or vice versa?

barba 08-04-06 03:47 PM

I get things within a week in MA with regular ground.

laterider 08-04-06 03:48 PM

you think nashbar is bad, then don't try airbomb!!!

I have an order in now with Nashbar(wheels, brakes, saddle). I ordered Monday...and still haven't received(friday). There's no way to track order, and I have not received any emails confirming items have shipped.
I'll probably stick with performance from now on.

They are the same company, you know.

If you pay for standard or ground service you get lousy service.. Pay the extra couple dollars and do 2nd day air.. I am in California, I always pay a little extra for 2nd day air and it always arrive in 2 days..

Perhaps...but my orders come fast from Performance. I'm in NC...and there is a large Performance store in NC. I'm assuming my orders are shipped from NC. Not with Nashbar????

Regular Nashbar shipping takes about 10 days to get to me. Definantely the slowest shipping I've encountered so far. For the money I save though, I can't complain....much.

bigbossman 08-04-06 04:41 PM

probikekit ALWAYS beats Performance or Nashbar to me in California.

twbradford 08-04-06 05:12 PM

If you look at the ship date on the Nashbar package it is the USPS that takes is time in delivering the package. Nashbar ships next day on standard orders but they must have a snail mail agreement with USPS. There is no logical reason for Foreign orders to get to you faster than a US order. They must pay the book rate.

and no...I won't pay the extra because it feeds the monster.

I'm waiting on a few items from both Nashbar and Performance - both ordered Monday morning 31 July.

Nashbar sent my shorts US Mail on 2 August - no way to track.

Performance shipped 1 Agust and sent it FedEx to the closest post office and then the US Mail delivers. Can track it. The items sit in a Sortation Center a full 24hrs+ at a time.

The amount that is added on for shipping would more than cover UPS or FedEx direct.

2nd day - nashbar is done by Fedex.. It sounds like ground shipping is sent via usps parcel post.. Parcel post is last mail processed by the us postal service..

Ding Ding Ding, you are correct.

Im 30 minutes from Performance's distribution center. Took 7 days to get a package to me via USPS. Package went from NC to WV back to NC, back to WV and back to NC.

+1, sad but true. Totalcycling also gets stuff from the UK to California in a week or less.

mayukawa 08-04-06 07:41 PM

The first time I used the USPS option (it was slightly cheaper), it took nearly 3 weeks to get to San Francisco. After that I used the ground service (typically FedEx Ground) and I usually get them within 5 business days. So no more USPS option for me...at least not for Nashbar/Performance.

I ordered pedals two weeks ago to the day, and they arrived today.

Next time I'm shelling out the extra cash for the 2 day delivery

chinarider 08-04-06 08:00 PM

I recently ordered some shoes & pedals from Nashbar. I'm in Michigan's U.P. I ordered on Tuesday & received the next Tuesday ( regular shipping). The shoes were the wrong size so I mailed them back the same day. I had my new shoes 9 days later (I paid to ship back, they paid to ship the new pair to me). Can't complain. Just my experience on my only order. YMMV.

I ordered from Performance on Monday afternoon. Shipping would be 11. I upgraded and paid 15 for express, and it was here Wednesday at 1:30 pm.

The small extra fee is worth the time saved.

I hate paying throught the nose for extra shipping, but like in your case I placed an order from nashbar on wednesday and it was only 4bucks extra for 2day air.
Funny thing tho - It was 6:30 and it had not shown up yet today and I was leaving for my ride - right then a RYDER truck pulls up and a fedex guy jumps out - his truck broke down today!

Nashbar's shipping is the worst that I have encountered. Purchases made online at 10am on 11/24. Shipment via USPS Standard on 11/25. As of 12/6, I still don't have my stuff comprised of two pairs of shorts and booties. I emailed Nashbar Customer Service who confirmed that my order was indeed shipped on 11/25 and that I should allow 7 - 12 business days . . . crazy! No one else is this slow.
