Colnago Tecnos Questions...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Colnago Tecnos Questions...

I was reading out here somewhere about the Colnago Lite, X-tra Light, and Tecnos. If I remember right, the Tecnos was rated for riders 150 lbs or lighter, and the lite was too, but not the X-tra Light?

I've located a Tecnos frame, I'm curious if anyone has any experiences with them and if they are a very sought after item? They guy is proud of it price-wise, but I'm 150 lbs and still lust after this Italian name. Any other pieces of wisdom about it are appreciated...thanks in advance.

I've always heard that the limit was 170. Nags are configured to fit with a slightly longer stem, and I guess some riders for some reason or another don't care for their steering characteristics. I'd gladly trade my MXL for a tecnos in similar cond.

Colngao Tecnos was a tour ridden frame, and used Columbus EL-OS tubing.

As with the EL-OS tubing, they are suggested for lighter riders, I don't know what the weight limit is, but I know that you are well within the limits. If it's a good price, go for it. It's a great frameset.

The one's I've seen were lightweight versions of the MXL which still retained gilco tubing for the TT and DT.

The original Tecnos used the EL-OS tubing in the late '90s, and the new ones used the Gilco tubing, which was drawn exclusively for Colnago from Columbus Nivachrombe tubing.

The weight limit for the Tecnos is 160lbs.

Thanks. Now I want one of those earlier Tecnos instead.
