shin splints?
New type of soreness today. I did a fairly intense (for me) ride yesterday morning.
Starting in the late afternoon, and continuing to this morning, my shins are KILLING me. They feel indentical to the way they felt the last time I actually went running (several years ago). I'm definately a clydesdale and am very prone to shin splints. I didn't think they were possible on a bike! Could it be something in my technique? I have been working on getting my cadence up over the past week or so, concentrating on circles and scraping gum and all that, but this is the first time this particular part of my body hurts. Dan |
REST! Take a break on those legs. It will be the best treatment for it.
The cause is usually muscle fatigue, most often from inpact, but you could be stressing the muscles too much working on your cadence. Try and build up a little more slowly next time (lol, no, I wouldn't take my own advice here either), but for now rest up, give 'em a brake, or it's likely to worsen quickly. |
