Scattante CFR Road Bike
We are considering purchasing a Scattante CFR road bike from Performance Bikes. It comes with all Ultegra components so I'm not concerned about the components. Does any one have any knowledge to the quality of the Scattante CFR frame? I would appreciate any information you have! Thanks! Phil

I've had a Scattante CFR since February of 2004 and it's been great. Smooth riding, good handling and relatively light. If your getting it at a good price, I'd say go for it.

I know several people with the older CFR frame and they seem happy with them. The 2006 frame is different. I have never seen one. I don't even know if it is made in the same factory.

I ride an R550 ('05, they didn't make it for '06) and I ride w/a guy on a CFR and he loves it...IMO, the Scattante bikes are the best value on the market. I got all 105 components and have been riding it for almost a year w/no problems at all. I haven't even gotten a flat yet and I ride on some crappy rodes. The only thing I'd want to change on mine is the wheels.
I think the CFR would be a great purchase. Let us know.

I bought mine at SuperGo in Mountain View, CA in Feb. '04, they had been open for about a week or so at that time.

I bought a CFR last year about this time. It was $1,300 for a double with the Korso wheels. For some reason I feel embarrased of the brand when on the bike trail. Part of that may be because I am a "big guy". I am swaping out the Ultegra double crank for an R700 this week.
All in all, I am pretty happy with it. I wonder if I should have gotten a steel frame at times, but I haven't had any trouble with flexing or anything. The one thing that sucked was the seat post and saddle, but I upgraded those immediatly. I'm using Mavic Open Pro's instead of the not so clyde worthy Korso's. So yeah, the CFR is one of the best bang for buck CF bikes.

I bought one from Supergo in August 2005 and it was my first road bike after years of mtn. biking. I couldn't be happier with my choice. I've upgraded a few bits (stem, seat, bars) here and there but mostly for fit. The Korso wheels are still on there and I've only had the rear trued once in 3,500 miles. The frame (different from the current model) has been fine and still rides as smooth as ever. The Ultegra components have met and exceeded all my expectations.
For the price/value the Scattante CFRs are great bikes. You don't get the big brand name and some may snub you for it but it that is there issue to deal with. I read almost all good reviews of the CFR before I bought mine so it seemed like the other owners feel the same way I do.
