Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

western north carolina rides

hi all,

i will be in canton,nc the week of 8/21 for 4days for business. i am considering bringing my bike with me so that i can ride some in the evenings.

for those of you in that area, can you recommend some routes of 15-20/25 miles? remember, i'm not great on hills (yes i know this is the mountains and mtns require climbing) but would like to try and ride some there to get some experience in.

maybe an lbs in canton or nearby that i could stop in and get a map or someone from there can give me a cue sheet(s) with just the roads would be fine.

thanks, karen.
