Bianchi Veloce - Ready for the road - pics
I finished the changes to my "used" '03 Bianchi Veloce. In a previous post I showed the original bike. I didn't change much. I had some Mavic Ksyrium Equipe as a back up set for my Cannondale. Since I wasn't overly impressed with the Bianchi hubs on the OEM wheels I swapped wheels. I then added a pair of Vittoria EVO Open Corsa CX tires - so far I'm really impressed with the rubber.
Other changes include a carbon seatpost. I ordered a Campy Chorus and it's a thing of beauty. I'm not sure the pictures show it, but the carbon weave really pops. I swapped saddles for a Terry Fly TI rail that I really like and use to have on the Cannondale. I also double wrapped the bars with some Celeste Cinelli cork tape. Swapped the stock 140 mm Bianchi/ITM stem for a 120 mm ITM stem. Add Campy pedals and it's good to go.
The reach is the same as the Cannondale, but has about an inch more drop. I've also played with cassettes, but my legs are not ready for the 12-23 yet, so I'm still running the 13-26. I really like the bike, I'll keep it as a shorter distance machine, it's a little lighter then the Cannondale, but still not a light weight. I love the full Veloce group, the Cannondale has a mixed group that works great, but something about the look of a complete component set.
Thanks for looking - John

Very nice. I never would've though I'd like celeste green, but it does make the bike look beautiful.

That's one nice looking bike. WOW, that seatpost is long though. Could you have moved up a size or two? A 120mm stem and a seatpost that long almost make the bike look too small, IMO. Good luck, I always liked Bianchis.

C"Dale and a Bianchi. The only two brands I would choose between, if I was to get an all aluminum bike. You sir, have excellent taste. You may apply for OCP membership at any time.

Thank you everyone!
The Bianchi is actually a 61 and the Cannondale is a 58. The Bianchi came with a 140 stem, so I had to back that down a bit, it's a compact geometry frame, and the Cannondale more traditional, but they size their frames to the top tube and not to the top of the seat tube.
Viper, I still long for a carbon bike down the road. My LBS is trying to get me to bite on a black Madone, but I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. Plus I wish Trek would offer a Campy option without going to a Project One. I do think a sleek black bike would nicely complete my stable.

Viper,
The Madone or __________ carbon bike is most likely 2 years away. I really want to do it right if/when I go for a carbon frame. That is sort of why I jumped on the Bianchi to fill the need to tinker, without buying a "new" bike. I would consider other makes, but I really like Treks carbon, and they are readily available, even my little small town LBS moves a fair number of Madones. I'm sure I'll be hot to trot after riding one in Italy for a week next month, but would be challenging to go to Italy and buy a high end carbon bike in the same year. All that said the black Madone 5.9 my LBS is looking at is SWEET! He has had some killer Madone deals in the past, I just need to be strong - just say NO!
Thanks again - John
P.S. I'm really liking those Vittoria's...
