As for the "bigger" races, UCI rules are currently in effect and have been since last year.
http://forums.roadbikereview.com/showthread.php?t=15786 But if you want a slightly more authoritative source: Rule changes: UCI bikes in USA national events The USCF has adopted a rule requiring the use of UCI compliant bikes at many domestic races beginning in 2007. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1B1. Scope b) Races for 17-18, U23 or Elite riders (including national championships) that are used to qualify riders for national teams or international competition have the option of using UCI rules, either completely or in part, provided that notification is given to the riders 60 days prior to the event. 1J. Bicycles 1J1(e). As of January 1, 2007, all bicycles used in Federation National Championship[s] (for age 17 and older riders) and NRC races must comply with current UCI regulations. Bicycles must meet current UCI technical regulations at events that select 17-18, U23 and Elite riders for international competition or national teams. 6A4. The bicycle used to set a National record must comply with current UCI regulations for bicycles even if the event permit did not require UCI bike compliance. changes effective January 1 2005. http://www.commissaire.net/frontpage...al-events.html When I said "bigger" I was referring to NRC (national racing calender) events. I didn't feel the need or have the time to set out the details, but now that you're accusing me of making this stuff up, I thought I'd set the record straight. And while the 2007 rulebook isn't available, the USCF put people on notice some time ago that they were going to be reguiring UCI compliance in 2007, so people could make their pruchases accordingly, and bike manufacturers would have time to plan. You must have a short memory, because you obviously knew about the rule change sometime ago when you psoted on Roadbike review. And frankly I take offense when you accuse me of lying (ie making stuff up) If I'm wrong on something, I stand to be corrected, and I'll be glad for you to tell me what I got wrong. but I don't make stuff up. |

UCI races only comprise of a handful of events in the US anyhow I thought (someone either please refute or support this cause I am unsure with the more recent boom in road cycling) |

That was correct and taken directly from the 2004 rulebook. As I said above, no one can know what may or may not be included in future rulebooks, but we can accurately represent what is contained in the most current version. I would suggest that if your knowledge and understanding of USCF rules is two years out of date, from whatever source, perhaps you would best serve the cycling community by refraining from commenting on matters pertianing to the rules.

^^^awe... I like it when we all get along :D
At first the bike is "twitchy" but easily tameable. If you're considering one and if you're in the Portland area you can take mine for a quick spin (no, mine is NOT for sale). Although, I'm pretty small, so a lot of you wouldn't fit. Parts are very difficult to come by. I think that I'm going to have to get a new headset for it cause I've noticed some back and forth play in it. I'll have to take the headset out to find out what size it is. I'm not sure if it's 1" or 1-1/8"... anyone know??? |
