Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fuji Team RC Euro vs. Felt F65

Decided the other day that I need a new road bike. These(Fuji team/Felt F65) currently are my top picks. I want this bike to last and become the fundation of a new stable of toys(Already have a stable of wwkayaks and snowboards). I forgot to mention I am extremely aggressive on a road bike even though I am relatively new to the sport.

Thanks for the help.

I probably will move back to Lake Tahoe or Asheville in the next year. So, this is not for flats.

I don't think this is a question. A Felt versus a Fuji? Come on. I'd take a Felt any day of the week. And the F75, I believe, has been considered one of the best bikes around for the price.

It seems like the two bikes are in completely different price ranges.. $1699 for the Felt vs $4,950 for the Fuji (msrp). Are you looking to test the waters a bit more before deciding if you want to pursue the sport? (In which case I'd recommend the Felt) or are you wanting to jump in head first (Fuji)?

Could you elaborate? World champ Judith Arndt raced on the same carbon frame that the o.p. references. How is a Felt automatically better than a Fuji?

Fuji by a long shot, if your looking at the Fuji Team RC Euro its full carbon with chorus carbon crankset, rear DE etc. This is much better specified than the F65 which is an AL frame with a carbon rear end.
Its not even in the same league you should be comparing the Felt F2c to the Fuji, the Fuj frame is 1.1kg which is very light.

I have a friend with the F75 and its heavy frameset and the weight of the Askium wheelset doesn't help.
It feels like a tank, I couldn't believe its weight. The Felt finish is not as good as the Fuji and I have seen both up close. My friends F75 is only 4months old but the matt black finish is already starting to chip off. Another posteron another thread had his F75 frame seperate at where the carbon seat stays joins the frame.

Felt also use cheaper components, that you don't normally check out, on their bikes on their bikes to save cost, eg. bottom bracket, chain, rear cassette and brake calipers. Its often misleading to assume these are Ultegra or Dura-ace, when they mention other components are, my friend assumed his bike was a complete mix of Ultegra and Dura-ace, but was disappointed when we figured out a lot of the components were'nt up to the ultegra or even 105 spec. You'll notice on the speciification page they don't make a reference to these parts https://www.feltracing.com/06/06_bikes/f65/spec.html. They only really mention the generic dual pivot brakes but these are not ultegra.

In contrast the Fuji spec for the Team Euro RC details what these components are and they are Campy Centaur. This way they are not subtley mis-leading the inexperienced buyer, you at least know what you are paying for.

I'd buy Fuji anytime over Felt, for several reasons, 1 the carbon frame is more highly specified, 2 - the company marketing is clearer and less misleading.

Um...for gods sake why? Fuji has been around much longer and has a better reputation for a quality product. They also have a very high margin so quite often dealers can come WAY down on the price. Fujis IMO have some of the best deals out there and I would go with a Fuji long before I would go with Felt.

To the OP - between those two bikes the Fuji is the clear class...better frame, and better components...if you can get one anywhere near the price of the Felt then go for it in a min. The geometries are similar between these two bikes but slightly different. The Fuji should be a bit quicker in the steering due to a slightly shorter wheelbase and the position may be a bit more agressive due to the shorter head tube (unless you equal them out by haveing more spacers under the stem of the Fuji assuming steerer length allows).

Don't forget the cheap cranksets. I have a Felt, and the first thing I did was change the crank and bottom bracket. I work in a Felt and Fuji carrying LBS, and I wish I had bought a Fuji.

Oh, my bad, newbie mistake, the Fuji is the team Pro euro, not the rc(Huge Difference). The Felt is on sale for $1600 and the Fuji is onsale for $1800.

Everyone has an opinion ... and they will be mixed. After riding both Felt's and Fuji's in the past 3 or 4 months, I'd go with the Fuji. Just a matter of personal opinion and taste. Go with whichever gives you the biggest WOW or YES factor when riding it!

If we are talking about the 06 Team Pro Euro, then definitely this over the Felt 75, it still has the the full Fuji carbon frame with all the features.

You can get a Fuji Team Issue Euro for $1800!!!??? Where are you getting that great deal?

I have been riding a 2005 Fuji Team Issue, same frame as yours, for the past year. I just love it. It's incredibly light and just feels great. I weigh 190 lbs, not a racer, but an aggressive rider (sprinter body type), and it's held up well. I also had a warranty problem early on and Fuji was great to deal with (although Performance was terrible, but that's another story).

I have heard complaints about the Felt's paint chipping after a few months. Also, some models have lowsy wheels. I was considering a number of different brands before deciding on Fuji. Fuji seemed to have the fewest complaints and fewest changes of stock components. Some reviews of Felts and Specialized sounded like this: Yeah the bike is great, I love it, all I had to do was change the tires, wheels, and cranks.

ON my Fuji, I changed out the stock saddle which was horrific. But that was it. I am heavy and my roads are quite bad and my wheels are still perfectly in true. It came with Conti Ultras.

Anytime you see Euro in a fuji, that means Campy. End of discussion.
