Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Astrale 8....

Hey guys,
I installed my new Astrale 8 yesterday and got everything hooked up, the sensors set and whatnot and when I put the computer on and took it for a ride it would not come to life. I had it in the automatic mode and it would not pick up anything. Could this be because the senors are way to far apart or is it other reasons? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Check the distance between the sensors and the magnets. Check to be sure you didn't damage any wires on the install. Clean the contact points between the computer and the mount with a pencil eraser. If nothing changes...return the darn thing for a new one.

yep... the sensors need to be really close to the magnets... readjust and it will work.

I've had Astrale 8 on my mtb since May last year -its very reliable, ride after ride. The clock is showing, right? The clock shows when it is "sleeping" My sensors are less than the "sensor width" ( 1/4" ) from the magnets. You can take a magnet and wave it by the sensor just to see activity in the screen. And make sure the computer is fully seated on the mount.

I've gotten alot from mine - especially cadence-wise, plus seeing how the prevailing wind affects my rides.

good luck!
