Road Cycling It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. -- Ernest Hemingway

New Bike Now in Commission

Just bought a new bike today. After about two months of humming and ha-ing I finally broke down and bought a new Surly Cross Check in metallic green. I know it is a not a thoroughbred road bike but I will be using it mostly for road cycling in any case. I am a big fan of steel frames especially considering the condition of a lot of the roads around here and I just love the indexed bar con shifters. I traded in the 700cx35 Ritchey knobbies in for a set of 700c x 23 Vittoria Rubino Pro tires for no extra charge at the LBS. Headed out for full power trials tomorrow. Sorry, no pics as my photography has not yet gone digital.
