1995 Raleigh Grand Prix?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

1995 Raleigh Grand Prix?

Anyone have knowledge of this bike? A friend of mine asked me about this bike as he's looking to purchase it for 150.

He supplied me with a useless photo - dark and grainy, can't make out anything but that it has downtube shifters.

I don't know Raleigh but for the old 3 speed my mother had. The info I get from Googling is only only on the current/recent line.

Any info would be appreciated!

Probably a pretty decent bike, esp. for $150 depending on its condition. The earlier models used something called 555sl tubing, which is pretty similar to columbus 501 and 531 (probably somewhere in between). If its in good shape I'd probably pull the trigger. You might also post in the vintage forum.

Thanks for your input...I almost forgot that I'd posted this.

Yeah the price seemed pretty good. I didn't know for sure if the bike was. I'll surely pass this on to my friend, and perhaps, check out what the C&V guys have to say.
