I just feel the need to say this

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I just feel the need to say this

I was on a ride, and forgot to move my clothes from the washer to dryer (clothes for work after the ride). I took one of my TWO headphones out of my ear, kept pedaling, reached in my jersey pocket and pulled out my phone to call home for someone to move my clothes to the dryer.

that's right. i used an ipod, cell phone, and a bike at the same time and nothing happened to me. I did however have to stop chewing my gum, that just would've been too many things to worry about.

all of you wanting to use an ipod, go ahead. All of you who don't, don't.

Wow, that's amazing. Proving once again that if you didn't kill yourself doing it, it must not be stupid, right?

By the way, when other riders on group rides ask me what my headphones are for, I generally reply that I'm talking to Johann Bruneeyl - and he wants us all to shut up and ride. And yes I can always hear them talking to me. I guess I don't get much flak from the other riders because it's rather obvious that my hearing isn't impaired. Those iPods have this way high tech device called a 'volume control'. Very cutting edge.

You can both do whatever you want. I was merely pointing out that the "I did this and nothing happened, so it must be totally safe" rationale is a somewhat faulty one.

I don't own an ipod. Mine is a creative zen nano. Thus, this thread doesn't apply to me.

Incidentally, were you riding without your hands? That would have made it all the better. Next time buy a cup of coffee and do the same. Talent!

Shhhh! Don't let the "never break the law" nannies on the A&S forum find out you did this or you will be pilloried between the wheels of an air horn equipped, 100w light carrying, safety flagged bicycle, which is actually easier to take than having to read their whiney posts.

Those also tend to be equipped with 100w riders.

Ready on the left...............ready on the right.................ready in the middle..................FIRE!

That's what our range master says on the range during qualification. Dude, you opened yourself up. And it is not that I mind the Ipod, it is your calling attention to it as to dare one to respond!

For that you get the award of the day!

It has nothing to do with "like." It is a post with relatively little value, yet incites a large sometimes angry response. The whole point of the post is not to ask a question or to inform or even to provide some levity, but to incite a flame war. That my friend is a troll.

We all use pictures of trolls, but the name is actually derived from the style of fishing with a lure or bait as you troll slowly through the water.

What's your definition of troll then? I agree with your point sometimes, but this guy basically asked to be attacked, and attacked he was.
