Moderately Priced Shoes for Big Feet?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Moderately Priced Shoes for Big Feet?

I am considering buying new road shoes. I have wide feet and high insteps. I am thinking my limit is around $150 or so, but less is better. My current shoes are an unknown model of Sidis from around 1990. I have really liked them, but they are gettng pretty old and worn out.

I am kind of partial to the Sidi brand, but will buy what fits the best and is in the price range. I am thinking that one of the Sidi Mega models might be the one. The Zeta Mega Mesh Road is probably the one that is in the price range. Or should I blow the budget and go for the Genius 5 Mega Lorica® Road? They seem to be the only "Mega" models listed on the Sidi page.

Are there other brands I should consider for wide feet and high insteps?

Any suggestions on brands, models, or sources? I am in the Baltimore, Md area so either shops in that area or online ordering are the choices.

Pete

I just got some Pearl Izumi shoes in size 48 and they feel pretty good. On sale at Performance for about $90.

If you're going to stretch the cycling budget, good shoes that fit are a pretty damn reasonable place to do it. Use a coupon to get close and get the nice Sidi's.
