Fair amount of resistance with veloce thumb lever?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fair amount of resistance with veloce thumb lever?

I just got my Veloce 10 speed shifters on sale from probikekit today . Overall, I am quite pleased with the quality. I do have one concern, there seemed to be a fair amount of resistance with the thumb lever used to shift up. The down shift lever is smooth as silk though.
It's not so much resistance like I need to really stress my thumb muscles to press it down, but is more than I would like. So my questions...
Has any other campy user had the same thoughts about their thumb levers?
And, have you noticed it loosening up a bit over time, perhaps this is just a break in period?

From what I've heard - the old addage.

Campy needs to be broken in. [notice the cheap veins in the hoods? they'll dissapear with use]
Shimano comes broken in.

Give it some time...

I've heard that the campy gear needs a 'break in' period in which everything settles in. I noticed that the new campy gear that I've used at the lbs, the Veloce and Centaur gear does need a little more pressure than Chorus/Record, but the used Campy stuff regardless of level is pretty smooth.

I've never really played with road levers before. But I will give them this, downshifting felt very cool. How many gears can you downshift at once with the veloce?

My Veloce brifters were the same way. After about 1000mi, they are now smooth as silk.

You can downshift alot of gears. I have one a couple of ocassions upshifted from big to small in one big throw of the right thumb shifter.

haha, I will have a picture tomorrow up.
So far what I have IN, like assembled and/or sitting.

Flyte SRS3 frame, Flyte stem, Flyte handlebar, and seatpost. Check out the thread Blandin posted about his 8th build, thats the same one I have.

Xero XR1's. For 220 shipped, it was a snag in my opinion.
Obviously Veloce shifters, but also rear derailleur.
Reynolds Ouzo fork w/ carbon steerer
Cane Creen SCR-3 brakes
Truvativ GXP BB
105 10 speed cassette
The frame came with an integrated headset, I suppose that needs to be included in a list as well.

In the mail...
Rouleur GXP cranks, non carbon.
Front derailleur
10 speed chain

I need tires, tubes, and bar tape. Then I am done!

Any idea how well these are going to work together? As far as I know they have different spacing.

I am quite tempted by these Flyte frame sets. I'll have most of a Shimano 8 speed group to do something with this spring. Though, as I have no space for another bike, I should sell it off to cover the cost of my Campy build.

Well,
I bought the Xero's a few weeks ago, thinking I was going with a shimano setup, as that is all I have ever seen on roadbikes here at least. Then Probikekit had that sale for the Veloce stuff, shifters for 88 bucks and an RD for 43! So I could not resist it. Well by this time I have had the wheels, so I just got a shimano cassette. I have heard mixed things about the spacing being an issue. Some have said it will work, just not as smoothly. If spacing is really an issue...
I work for a machine shop, I am sure I can figure out some solution .

I am pleased with the quality of the Flyte stuff. Even the handlebars which I thought would be mediocre stuff just thrown in were surprisingly good.

My Veloce's still a bit stiff after roughly 700 miles. Hopefully it'll break in in the next few hundred.

If worse comes to worse, there are Shimano to Campy conversion cassettes that you can get to use Campy drivetrain with a Shimano freehub. They ain't cheap, but not as bad as some of the high end Campy cassettes. (All things Campy are $$, but they last).

I test rode a bike today w/ 105 shifters and once I figured it out I have to say shifting's easier than on the Campy levers simply cuz I have to move my hand back a bit to hit the thumb lever while I don't have to move my hands w/ the Shimano shifters. As for the stickiness, mine came broken in since they were used.
