Armstrong teammates admit doping: NYT

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You forgot poker. A few years ago some morons were pushing for poker to be in the olympics.

You can't argue with evidence like that.

doping in curling.... http://www.inthehack.com/node/10744?cache=no

also, There is a curler by the name of Mitchell Marks who was suspended for 2 years for not showing up and taking an out of competition drug test. In his defense, he was finished competing, was going to school, and had applied to the Police Academy and wasnt interested in taking the test etc...

No doping in Bowling. The most commonly used PED is legal, Ethanol (aka aiming fluid).

I have an image of a curler took (tuke sp?) to the side, with the side of his face frozen to the ice. His teammates are standing around chugging Molson 'Bradors promising they'll have some warm liquid soon to "melt the ice, and set em free, eh!"

Sorry for my little bird walk there...

Actually its been interesting to watch the growing, overwhelming evidence that EVERYONE in the sport dopes, not just Armstrong.

+1
Yes, at long last! Everyone was prepared to accept that most riders doped but not Armstrong, oh no! How infuriating (THough I always wondered if this was due to hypocrisy or stupidity --probably a lot of both... )
Anyways, now we know how Copernic would feel if he came back to life and realized most people now believe that the sun does not revolve around the earth...Finally!

but if, as so many suggest, they all do it -- in a relativist way of looking at it -- is LA a "dirty filthy cheat"?

Yes he is indeed. Because of the vehemence of his denials. He's OUTRAGED that people migh suspect him of doping. Self-righteousness just doesn't make you look god when you are guilty as hell.

I think that makes you a hypocrit. And that's one of the things makes the current climate so distasteful.

Aren't you the guy who says that Tyler Hamilton is innocent? If so, that reduces your credibility somewhat on the topic of doping --to put it mildly...

Actually, getting called a "hypocrit (sic)" by someone who says Tyler Hamilton is clean is really a compliment. So thanks

Blaireau,
I've never been an advocate for Tyler Hamilton, and the "you" wasn't meant to refer to you, Blaireau.

My point was that if everybody's doping, the fact that you deny that you dope, may make you a hypocrit, but there's an argument that you're not a dirty rotten cheat, because of the level playing field.

The denial aspect doesn't alter whether you're cheating, but it does give rise to charges of hypocracy.

Again, I wasn't calling you a hypocrit. The original comment was written in third person, and my comment carried out the thought in third person. I guess I could have said "one" instead of "you" to be clearer.
