Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not riding dangerous?

When I am out riding, I love my bikes – any bike. I just love riding. But the second I get off the bike and start looking around on the web, I want to upgrade anything and everything! Uggg it has rained way too much this past week. I need to ride my bike not shop for it. Anyone else have this problem or am I alone in this?

+1. I need to make mine a little more iron-fisted too. Too much escapes her sight.

lol mine just rolls her eyes and says... "so does this make you faster?" My latest buys have been new sidi Zeta mesh - that 20% at perfomance killed me.. I could not hold back. But I was smart and got goods that I had been really eyeing from some time.

I only get that way in the winter. My shortage of funds keeps me from doing anything crazy, though. Sometimes being poor is a good thing.

I have that problem a lot. I feel like my bike is finally setup the way I want it except for clipless pedals, but on my shopping list right now are a good workstand, some long sleeve alert shirts, a jacket, and a new mtb. After dropping over $200 in the past month I think I'm done spending 'till I find employment.

It's fun to have our little secrets. Just don't tell her. I have an attic full of bikes and a boat down by the river that she did not know about for the longest time. Talk about a warm fussy.

+1, My girlfriend of 3.5 years is always rolling her eyes about how much I am spending. I'm trying to get everything bought now before the wedding!.... and whenever she get too upset I just remind her about that expensive stone on her ring and how cycling is so much more useful then a stone. Always quiets her up.

The only thing that I brought into my marriage was my bike...If I hadn't owned that before marriage I wouldn't have one

As much as I spent on a ring for her you'd think I could get a new bike after 3 years on trek 1000.

As long as her carbon is better than mine - it's all good.

But yes, it is addictive and sometimes degenerating because we think too much of what to ride and not when to ride... but it's all in good fun. Enjoy it.

Agreed. Even though I've been out of work since mid-June, I've "only" been without a paycheck for a month. Sometimes being a college student and living at home has it's benefits. No way I could spend those $200 if I weren't living at home.
