So I have this really old street bike...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need help with this really old street bike...(got it road worthy..pics)

can anyone tell me what it might be? I remember riding it as a kid and having the fastest bike in the neighborhood

Since then the parts have all rusted and I dont know where to start to make it road worthy again.

the seat sucks (any good seat recomendations?) the shifter thingies are all rusty, theres a ziptie thats older than I am on it, the brake handles are loose and I dont see how you would get them off or tighten them? The pedals are not 180Deg. I dont like the foam grips..what kind of tape would i replace them with? The frame look straight I geuss...
I have a new rim and tire and chain. I would like a ne front rim and tire and some new brakes, lines, and brake handle things, and seat, and....hell alot of stuff. lol

thanks for the help!
Ashton

I can't tell from the pics. Maybe try the classic and vintage forum?

+1 on the Classic and Vintage forum. Those guys are good at these things. You will probably have to supply a little more information on the frame though. I doubt that they can figure it out based on the pictures alone.
