Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

DMT shoes require shims with Shimano pedals?

I picked up a pair of DMT Kyomas this season and they are by far the best racing shoe I've ever owned... However, I lost almost all float when combined with Shimano pedals. I believe this is because I ride a smaller size (43.5) and the arch of the sole is rather severe, which flexes the cleat slightly. This makes the fit between the cleat and pedal excessively tight.

Can anyone recommend a shim that would alleviate this problem? The only shim I know of is the LeWedge which is designed to tilt the foot to the outside, and that's not exactly what I'm looking for although I'll run them if they provide a flatter surface for the cleat to sit against.

Thanks
-J
