This thing is freaky!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah...the more I looked into it the more these things seem to make sense more for the disabled to be able to get out and ride slowly.

I think it's a great idea for that too.
I'm not there yet.

But should the day come when I could no longer ride a 'regular' road bike....I'd be all over this thing because I'm not giving up cycling without a fight.

How about Cross country skiing? Just pick trails that are relatively flat, too minimize your chance of falling from a high speed downhill run.

Also, I still recommend sculling.

BTW, my Mom had one of these when I was a kid. She used to ride to the grocery store in town, and come home with the basket full.

That stretching motion is like a coffee grinder on the thing....no ski action for me. I'll take cocoa in front of the firesplace though, while wearing a stunning wool sweater of course.

Yeah.

If I didn't have such a good job and have had so much success here in this community I'd seriously think about moving to a warm-clime where I could ride year round. I've always envied those people...because I am no fan of snow.

Well, my wife doesn't like riding in the rain or even very cold weather, as she has that Reynaud's (sp?), which causes the blood vessels in her hands to constrict and cut off circulation when they get chilled. Anyway, I got one of those Performance Travel Trac Millenium w/wireless comp on sale for like $300 a couple years ago. I originally bought it for me, but then I got into commuting, even in the winter. So, she uses it now.
She just pops in some music DVD in the 'puter and goes to town for an hour every night.

So, for a reward, she'll get a spectacular new weight-wieenie, Record equipped, cf machine for next summer. Hence, the new frame I am painting for my better half in the Verus Amor thread.

She's tough.

She road with the Oregon crew when we went down for a weekend this last spring. She hung with us the whole way ona 50miler, and over 3500ft of climbing. She readily dropped some of us on the hills. She even beat me to the top of a hill, which for her was a first. Rad can attest to her cycling skills.
