Frame question (which I'm sure has been asked before)

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Frame question (which I'm sure has been asked before)

I've been riding on the road for almost a year, and I love it. I currently use a Lemond Tourmelet, and it's been a great bike for me so far. I'm looking at my next upgrade (I think it will be Aerobars), and am also starting to think beyond that. My thoughts have been turning to frames as a result. Frankly, I don't know a lot about them.

From what I can tell, some are stiffer, some dampen small vibrations better, and some are somehow better in curves. If you do a search on this forum, you'll get a zillion posts back and all of them seem to assume that I already know what frame material is best for a particular type of rider.

I know that no matter what I get, it's doubtful that I'll use it hard enough to merit what I'll probably spend. I don't know if I'll be sensitive enough to realize any difference from one material to the next in curves. I certainly don't have the power to break a frame in a sprint (at least I don't think I do).

That said, I still want to learn. Where is a good primer on frames? I want to get more of an understanding of why certain riders like certain materials. I don't even know what kind of biker I am, and would like to get a better understanding of that as well, in order to start thinking of what I might need down the road.

I can say this much. I do hills well, and am told that I'm a "strong" rider (I don't spin as well as I should, preferring to use strength instead). I don't have a sprinter's burst, but I can perform well in a flat and usually do well at the head of a paceline when it's my turn. In many ways I'm still very much a beginner though.

Can anyone point to a few articles that will educate me? I really appreciate it.
