Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

RIDLEY is on TV. :)

RIDLEY is on TV. :)

Yeah Baby. For the first time, other than on OLN during the TDF or cyclism sundays, I have started seeing commercials on TV for high end road bikes. I saw one on Sci-Fi channel, and another but I can't remember which one. One of them being my favorite commercial so far. It is the RIDLEY commercial.

I'm sure some of you have seen it. They used to play it all the time on www.cycling.tv and I loved it.

I guess cycling really must be getting bigger here in the states, or I wouldn't be seeing so many commercials. It's great to see. It really gets you pumped up in a matter of just a few seconds.

"I'm lookin' for the key.....The key to open the door..... Yeeeeaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!"

Ok, so maybe it isn't such a big deal. But to me, it is.

Cycling News has pics from Interbike of Ridley's new "entry level" bike. It looks a lot like a Pedal Force QS-2.

The new “entry level” Orion frame features monocoque carbon fiber construction with a T-shaped top tube and heavily reinforced bottom bracket area for what Ridley says is an optimal stiffness to weight relationship. Cost-cutting measures include a non-flared 1 1/8” front end with an aluminum fork crown and a marbled carbon finish with smatterings of 3k weave for impact resistance. The Orion still qualifies as a lightweight at 1200g and will be offered at a MSRP of US$1500.

It's not a QS2, or QS2-S. But with the layup in the seatpost area being so similar, I wouldn't doubt if they're made in the same ADK factory.

Ridley factory

I think any additional exposure for bikes in the us is great, it promotes our sport and indirectly increases it's validty by being in the mainstream which may lead to more respect for cyclists.

As for the ridley's.. Robbie seems to win plenty of sprints on them and I have seen a tour of the ridley factory where they do infact make all of their bikes in house.

****.

In my many years on these forums i dont think i have ever seen anything intelligent come out of his mouth (keyboard)

People saying stuff like that without anything to back it up is childish.

Most Ridleys are made in Taiwan, only the higher end stuff is made in house, and most frames are finished in Belgium, but made in Taiwan.
Regardless, they are pretty much like all other frames for quality.

Euro rides a cyfac, which by all accounts, is a pretty unremarkable frame.

I can't believe this thread is still showing up on the first page of the Roadie forum. It's been like 5 or 6 days now.
