Fall Colors in Northern Minnesota

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Fall Colors in Northern Minnesota

Snapped a few photos this afternoon while out on a ride with my wife. The photos were taken along the Paul Bunyan Trail between Backus and Hakensack.

The colors are great right now. I have ridden 300 miles this past week and have really enjoyed the views.

Fall colors on my ride today. This was taken overlooking the Red Deer River Valley.

Nice pics. You should get a helmet for that blonde woman, if she is a friend of yours.

We won't get our colors down here for probably another 3-4 weeks. Yesterday I think it was in the 90's.

Beautiful pictures, looking forward to some of those scenes soon down here too.

I did the Cannon Valley Trail yesterday (Red Wing to Welch and back fo 18 miles) with the family and some friends and the colors are getting to be superb. Today, I took the day off and did about 27 miles of the Grand Rounds (West River Parkway going clockwise around Lakes Nokomis, Harriet, Calhoun, Lake of the Isles) and back through the Midtown Greenway in Minneapolis (I did a short detour to the University of MN campus - my alma mater). The colors are also superb.

The weather has been great the last 2 days (around 78F - 84F), but we'll be back in the 60's starting tomorrow.

Overall, an excellent 2 days of easy cycling with great scenery!

I'd like to ride the Cannon Vally Trail and hear it's great but have not had the time. We are heading out to Northern Virgina in 2 weeks and plan to ride the Northern part of Skyline Drive.
