Haven't ridden much, and have a century this weekend. Eek.

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Haven't ridden much, and have a century this weekend. Eek.

I've been doing plenty of miles this season, but thanks to work increasing and daylight decreasing I've not ridden but a couple hundred miles in the last three weeks. I have an organized century on Saturday (Moab Century Tour, https://www.skinnytirefestival.com/century/century.html).

So yeah, I know I'll be fine and I'll limp through it, but dernit I hate going into an event not having adequate miles under me. Oh well. Just thought I'd share.

Sidenote: This ride has a GREAT jersey:

Dex, you are one lazy bum.

(just kidding.... anyone who climbs Trail Ridge Road to the top is going to handle the Moab ride just fine.... )

Sweet jerseys!

"Only" a couple hundred miles in the last three weeks, huh? You'll do just fine! Be sure to report back to us.

don't sweat it. I rode my first century after only doing commuting and little extra riding for the last week or so. You'll do great. I had never even ridden with the fast people on group rides, and I have never done over 40 miles, yet I did both that day.

Ah, you might want to sneak in one longer ride this week, but I wouldn't stress it. You'll be fine.

You seriously like that jersey, eh? It looks like a contestant in a high school art competition... Whatever makes you happy....

I've got my first Century this weekend (Seagull on the eastern shore of Maryland), and I have never done more than 45 miles in a single ride, and haven't ridden more than twice in the past two weeks due to a ton of work and family stuff. And you think you got problems!

I am banking on flat terrain, plenty of rest stops, and the increased energy from an organized ride.

I like the comic style of the jersey, so nyah.

And I'll be okay, just not flying up the hills like I should be had I been riding. Eh, it's three days away from work, and that's enjoyment enough. The ride is capped at a thousand riders (and it's full) -- anyone else going by chance?

Dex,
You got about a hundred more miles in than me the past 3 weeks. Then again, I'm not riding no century this weekend either. Enjoy them days off from work, which I'm sure you will.

Denny

You want flat, you got it. I did a TOPO of the route your going to ride, and the average gradient is 0%. Enjoy the day.
