Calling All with Frame Painting Experience!

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Calling All with Frame Painting Experience!

So some of the guys from the LBS went to interbike and ran into Dario Pegoretti, being the great shop that they are, they got him to sign a pegoretti decal and personalize it for me since I bought a Pegoretti Marcelo in February. The autograph is completely in Italian but we think it translates to "Chris, I am really glad you like my bike ~Dario Pegoretti"

I want to permanently affix the sticker to my top tube and I need ideas. I thought about clear tape but I don't know the longevity. I was thinking maybe a clear coat layer? Any ideas?

Yes, a clear coat over it will make it permanent. The problem is it's probably not the best idea to just clear coat the decal directly over the current clearcoat - but rather strip a section, apply the decal, then new layers of clear. This way, it should all blend together.

excellent idea Rad. I didn't even think of blending the clear coats. I think I might enlist a painter to help me with this.
