Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Scott CR1 Pro

Just curious if anyone can tell me what kind of prices they have seen this bike for, 06 Scott CR1 Pro. My LBS can get me one, they don't have my size in stock, for $2300. I have looked around online and haven't seen one this cheap, other than one that is on eBay for $2100 and I would rather spend the extra $200 to have the piece of mind of knowing exactly what I'm getting and who I'm getting it from. Just curious how good, if at all, this price is? Thanks!

I would rather spend the extra $200 to have that piece of mind but I would also like to know that it's a decent deal before pulling the trigger.

You can always ask about the LBS letting you have it for $2100. There's a local place near me that will do that deal. All-in-all though, it's up to you. If you feel like you got a good deal, then you did. I also don't know if there are "extras" in your LBS deal. For example, some will give you a discount on accessories purchased at the same time/day or free tune-ups. I haven't asked my LBS, referenced above, but I don't think they include those things.

What? I don't even know that I have seen a Team that low, not that I have really looked much but I don't recall seeing anything near that. They did also offer me a SL for $3750 which seemed about middle of the road from what I could gather until I saw where a sporting goods store in Iowa had one for $2800. Maybe it all comes down to being in the right place at the right time, and the right size being available.

It actually arrived at the LBS today and I am picking it up tomorrow, but I would still like to see some other pricing just to see what kind of deal it ended up being.

I got mine on ebay cheap, but now that I have ridden it a few thousand miles I would GLADLY pay $2300 for it from a local shop. That is a great deal on a great bike.

$4k for the Dura Ace 880 g one (is that the Team) here, list is $5k (incl SL wheels). They would sell for $3600 w/ a Shimano compact crank (cheaper than the DA). The cheaper model (Pro?) could be had for $2600 IIRC w/ full Ultegra and cheaper (Elite?) wheels.
