Wierd wheel issue

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wierd wheel issue

Hello all -

I've got my brakes centered and adjusted so there's very little space between the pads and the rims so there's a nice short lever pull. The wheel appears to run true, however, when the bike's on the rack, I pedal up to speed by hand and turn the front fork approximately 90 degrees to the left, one of the pads start rubbing intermittently.

Anyone seen anything like this before?

Andy

Happen all of the time to my 32 hole front and rears. Just widen the gap a little bit.

The brake cable housing is short enough to close the brake when you turn the fork THAT far. However, you will probably never turn the fork 90° while riding, so I wouldn't worry about it.

It's the brake cable pushing the brake out of alignment.

Bending the cables slightly lengthens the housings, retracting the cable, which pulls the brake. Your brakes are too tight. Won't happen to the front because the entire length of cable rotates with the bars/fork.

Got it.
Thanks for all the replies - that's what I was thinking but wanted to just double check.

Thanks.
